One Week And Counting

It's STILL raining friends, a beautiful, wet, green spring. The last few weeks have laid the fear of drought to rest. The valley is lush and the wildflowers are abundant. Forecast is for drier weather next weekend, but be perpared for thunderstorms, and pack a ground cloth for underneath your tent.

Turns out that James Dean won't be in attendance next weekend. He's taking an unforeseen opportunity to get out of town and connect with the art car community. He usually can't get away from the Shakespeare Festival at this time of year, so he's going to jump on the chance. Wish him god speed.

Hamfist got rained out of the Green Show last night for our second time in our history as a band. They moved us into Carpenter Hall, a former church that has been turned into a small performance space. The hall was completely packed and people gathered outside at the windows to listen in. We kind of sucked, sorry to say; it happens. It felt like it was 110 degrees under the lights, hot, airless, humid, sticky, kind of like an old church (imagine that.) Something about all these sedate Shakespeare afficionados looking up at us politely must have spooked us bad, coz we fucked up more than once. I was sweating like a whore in church (hey wait a minute...) The meterological conditions were not kind to my hair; it was HUGE and not in a good way. Some guy stood right in front of the stage filming, which put him directly between us and the polite white folks. It was surreal, to say the least. Oh well, such is life. We pulled off most of our songs and got asked back for an encore, but damn, it was rough. I'm looking forward to our show at Stillwater tonight, where we'll play for a bunch of drunk ass college students who want to dance. Now that's my kind of crowd.
